Offset / Industrial Participation
SSF offers to its international customers its tested competence and experience in the development and implementation of quality offset. The programs aim at securing a long-term impact on the local economy, achieved through a blend of activities primarily in the areas of technology and know-how transfer, local production, export promotion, investment and joint venture, depending on the preferences of the customers.
SSF has earned a reputation of honoring offset obligations to the full satisfaction of its contractual partners. Programs successfully completed in Greece, Kuwait and Uruguay may serve as examples.
SSF’s offset knowledge base dates back to the former holding company Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, where SSF was a member, and where offset was realized with success in countries with divergent project priorities, such as Algeria, Ireland, Canada, Poland, China and Vietnam.
At present, SSF manages offset programs at different levels of implementation in Belgium, Kuwait and Slovenia. The portfolio has recently seen a sizeable increase through an offset program for realization in Portugal, following an award to SSF in early 2005 of a contract for the supply of 260 Pandur to the Portuguese Armed Forces.
The above programs cover both military and non-military projects, the latter predominantly in the field of automotive and related technologies, as well as technology transfer. All projects are accomplished in strict compliance with the regulations and guidelines applicable in the respective country.
